THE ROLE

Senior, hands-on and yours to shape.

A senior role with genuine responsibility, variety and influence.

Work directly with our Managing Director, Clair Wescott.

Shape campaigns, improve processes, support the team and build strong client relationships.

Stay close to the work rather than managing people or sitting in meetings all day.

What you’ll be doing

Because our team is deliberately small, every person has a visible impact on the work we deliver and the way the business develops. Your role will combine client strategy, campaign oversight, hands-on delivery and team development. The role is broad, but it isn’t about being a specialist in every channel. It’s about understanding what good digital marketing looks like, knowing what will make a difference and being confident enough to lead, challenge and deliver.

Client strategy

Leading digital marketing activity across a portfolio of client accounts.

Turning client objectives into clear, practical marketing plans.

Planning, managing and reviewing integrated digital campaigns.

Presenting recommendations and progress directly to clients.

Producing clear, commercially useful client reporting.

Hands-on delivery

Setting up, managing and optimising Google Ads and paid media campaigns.

Keyword research and on-page search engine optimisation (SEO).

Reviewing websites and content from an SEO, user experience and conversion perspective, alongside the team.

Identifying opportunities to improve organic visibility, traffic and enquiries.

Developing link building, digital PR and outreach activity.

Planning and reviewing social media and content campaigns.

Creating or adapting marketing assets when needed.

Team and quality

Reviewing work produced by junior members of the team and helping them improve.

Quality-checking work before it reaches clients.

Keeping projects moving and making sure deadlines are met.

Spotting issues early and taking responsibility for resolving them.

Direction and improvement

Analysing campaign performance and deciding what should happen next.

Improving the way we plan, deliver and measure marketing activity.

Using artificial intelligence (AI) and technology intelligently to make the team more effective.

Contributing ideas to the development of Fresh Digital itself.

There will be specialists around you, and you won’t be expected to personally deliver every element of every campaign. However, this is a role for someone who enjoys being close enough to the work to understand it properly and step in when their experience can make a difference.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have several years of experience working within a digital or integrated marketing agency, or in a senior in-house digital marketing role. You might currently be a Senior Digital Marketing Executive, Digital Marketing Manager, Senior Account Manager with strong hands-on skills, Performance Marketing Manager or Digital Marketing Lead. Job titles matter less to us than capability, judgement and the ability to take ownership.

We need somebody who understands the whole digital marketing picture and can confidently lead activity across several of the following:

SEO

Google Ads and PPC

Paid social

Organic social media

Content marketing

Link building

Digital PR and outreach

Email marketing

Analytics and reporting

Conversion optimisation

Graphic design and content creation

We don’t expect one person to be a 10/10 specialist in every channel. What matters is that you can assess a campaign, understand whether it’s working, identify what needs to change and explain your recommendations clearly to clients and colleagues. You should also be comfortable getting involved in the detail when necessary.

Is it the right fit?

You’ll probably thrive here if…

You enjoy having genuine responsibility rather than simply managing a small part of a large process.

You take ownership, make decisions and follow things through.

You can move comfortably between strategic thinking, client conversations and practical delivery.

You’re commercially minded and understand that good marketing needs to achieve a return on investment for the client.

You’re organised enough to manage several projects without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

You’re confident enough to challenge work that isn’t good enough, while remaining constructive and collaborative.

You enjoy helping junior marketers develop and take pride in improving the quality of the team around you.

You’d rather influence the direction of a small, ambitious agency than become one person in a large marketing department.

You see AI and technology as useful tools for improving quality, efficiency and results, but never for delivering work.

This probably isn’t the role for you if…

You only want to work within one narrow digital specialism.

You want a purely strategic role with no involvement in delivery.

You prefer to have every task allocated before you begin.

You’re uncomfortable dealing directly with clients.

You don’t enjoy working in a small team where your contribution is visible.

You prefer highly structured corporate environments with multiple layers of approval.

You’re looking for a completely remote role.

Working pattern

This is a 22.5-hour, three-day-a-week position based from our office in Wilmslow. Our preferred working patterns are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, or Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. After the initial onboarding period, we require a minimum of two office-based days each week, with the remaining day potentially worked remotely.

For the first 12 weeks, we’d ideally like the successful person to spend approximately 10 of those weeks working all three days from the Wilmslow office. This is designed to give you a proper understanding of our clients, our standards, the people you’ll be working alongside and how the business operates before moving into a more hybrid working pattern.

Why Fresh Digital?

We have built our business on being purposely small. We’re focused on building a very good business, with a strong reputation, excellent client relationships and a team of capable people who enjoy doing work they can be proud of. We work with a deliberately limited number of clients, which allows us to get much closer to their businesses than a traditional high-volume agency can.

You’ll work directly with our Managing Director, have genuine input into how campaigns are run and be trusted to make decisions. You won’t have layers of account handlers, department heads and internal politics to navigate. Instead, you’ll have direct access to decision-makers, a varied client portfolio, the freedom to use your judgement and the opportunity to see the impact of your work.

You’ll also have the chance to help shape how Fresh Digital grows, including the services we offer, the way we work and the standards we set. For the right person, there is significant scope for this role to develop as the agency develops.
